Go-OpenOffice Available as sfs4

Oct 31, 2009 - Forum member playdayz made available Go-OpenOffice 3.1.1 (see his Forum post):

"If anyone is interested I made an sfs of go-openoffice 3.1.1. The hype is that it is faster starting up (it is fast in my experience), lighter weight, more compatible with microsoft office documents, and with a less cluttered interface.. This is No frills.. there are no menu entries or other conveniences. The desktop files for each program are in /opt/openoffice.org3/share/xdg, and you can drag them to the desktop for convenience. "

Important: Use this only with Puppy 4.3.1 or newer version. Look here for an example of the use of sfs in PuppyLinux 4.3.1 (bugfix version of 4.3).

Download the sfs 163 MB md5sum 63c6a76d95a806c4c8ca9fc802585b35
Mirror with sfs3 (for Puppy 4.2.1 or earlier)

OpenOffice and C-IDE sfs for Puppy 4.30

Barry Kauler has built and posted sfs4 packages for Puppy Linux 4.30:

  • OpenOffice 3.1.1 sfs 176 MB - Office suite that can open MSOffice 2007 files. See the Forum discussion (do not download from there as the format is for older Puppy version);
  • Anjuta C-IDE 71 MB - development environment for C/C++ (For programmers only - use it with devx sfs).

To use the sfs, download from ibiblio and place in your /mnt/home directory (you must be saving files already to your data drive).

Start Menu - System - BootManager and click on the "Choose which extra SFS" button.
Launch the BootManager

Choose from the left box the sfs to be loaded and click the "Add" arrow to place it on the right box.
Choose the SFS to be loaded

Click OK, reboot and start using the sfs!

NOTE: These sfs4 packages will work only with Puppy Linux 4.30 or newer (i.e., not on older versions). Also, you must be using pup_save.2fs, such as with live CD, USB or frugal installation, NOT full installation.

For full installation, mount the sfs by clicking on it and then copy the files to the proper directories of your full install. Click again on the sfs to un-mount it. Reboot or refresh menus. See also the SFS installer package for full installation here.
